Web Choice Winner Gets Boost From Famous Fan

Once again, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin proves influential at swaying votes. This time, however, her influence focused on REALTOR® Magazine’s 30 Under 30 competition.

When Kristi Tanner Mock found out she made it to the top 50 finalists in REALTOR® Magazine’s 2013 30 Under 30 competition, she knew she was going to have to step it up to pull ahead in the week-long voting period for Web Choice winner.

“There are so many people who are more techie than I am,” Mock said. “I leveraged my sphere of influence who wanted to help, but I didn’t stop there. I was also diligent in leveraging key contacts within my spheres’ sphere.”

Mock was thankful for the social media help from family, friends, her coach, and her brokerage.

“It was really cool,” she says of the support. “My coach blasted it literally every day ... [and] Keller-Williams really rallied together the entire northwest region.”

But Mock had one former client and family friend with an outsized influence who also helped out: fellow Wasilla native, one-time vice presidential candidate, and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Palin posted entreaties to her Twitter followers and Facebook fans, encouraging them to vote for Mock.

“Extraordinary success is achieved by identifying the game changers,” Mock says. “In this case I realized that I could make a thousand calls or make a few calls to people who have the ability to reach thousands.”

Mock added that the honor comes as something of a shock, since the sales team she leads has experienced an unusual amount of turnover recently. But she has worked hard to rebuild the team.

“It just feels like such a huge privilege,” Mock said of the award. “For what I’ve gone through in the last year with our team and completely restructuring, my goal was just to not fail. ... That we could exceed our 2011 numbers, given all of the things that have occurred; I was really proud of that.”
