Where Everybody Knows Her Name
A small-town Kentucky real estate pro hits it big after winning the 30 Under 30 Web Choice voting.
April 9, 2021
From a young age, Anna-Marie Hyatt aspired to gain the respect of her community. Her parents, also real estate professionals, were lauded in their town of Lawrenceburg, Ky., for their commitment to helping clients start their homeownership journey. Hyatt wanted to blaze a similar trail for herself.
“Growing up, I can remember people always saying, ‘Your mom and dad sold me my house,’” she recalls.
Through her parents and her own deep community involvement, Hyatt, CRS, GRI, a sales associate with Lois Ann Disponett Real Estate in Lawrenceburg, has created an expansive sphere. “I love the feeling of being able to walk into any room and talk to people about their kids or their day,” she says.
Her circle of friends, colleagues, and clients has shown appreciation in return.
When Hyatt was named one of the 50 finalists for the 2021 Class of 30 Under 30 and entered the running for Web Choice voting March 12-19, she rallied her large circle for their support. It paid off: Hyatt became the Web Choice Award winner, earning 3,662 of a total 38,013 votes cast, and secured her spot in the 30.
“I was really surprised,” Hyatt says. “Being from Kentucky—it’s not California—and being able to say that I did it is a big accomplishment.”
While Hyatt sent many texts and emails to her sphere and posted on social media asking for votes, she kicked her efforts into high gear when she noticed she was in the top six just three days before the end of voting. “I contacted so many people, even the people at Kroger told me they voted for me,” she says.
But what sealed the deal was when Hyatt asked her local associations—she’s a member of both the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® and the Greater Louisville Association of REALTORS®—and the state Kentucky REALTORS® organization to promote the voting on her behalf.
“I said, ‘You know, I’m doing OK [in the voting], but I’d love if you would send this out to members,’” she recalls. They did—and by the final day of voting, she had shot to the top.
Hyatt says becoming a member of the 30 Under 30 was her high-level goal ever since she started her real estate career. Her primary board in Lexington encouraged her to apply. Now that she’s notched the accomplishment, she hopes to use her visibility as a 30 to encourage more young professionals to enter the business. She plans to deepen her involvement in the REALTOR® family, too. “I want to help other young agents find their path in this industry,” Hyatt says. “My business—it’s about real estate, but I always want to make a difference in people’s lives, too.”
