On Ellen DeGeneres’s 60th birthday in 2018, the TV star filled her audience with people who “do good” in their communities. Bita Kamoei, 29, and her two sisters were there and received a share of the show’s largest giveaway—$1 million split among the invited attendees. “We got about $10,000 for our scholarship fund,” says Kamoei. The sisters, who co-own their brokerage in Palm Desert, Calif., launched the fund four years ago to benefit college-bound students at their former high school. So far, they’ve provided more than $50,000 in awards. Kamoei’s sisters tease her about being the “inventory shark” on their team because she constantly monitors the supply of homes coming onto their market. With her deep knowledge of local communities, she helps clients identify the best place for them to land.
