A Higher Goal

At age 18, Cyrus Mohseni moved from Cypress, Calif., to Switzerland to play professional soccer. He went on to play for teams in Costa Rica, Iceland, and the Philippines, traveling the world. “They’d put us up in five-star hotels in some countries. But I’d look out my window and see slums. That was hard for me to see.” After he retired from soccer, Mohseni, 26, got his real estate license and started a nonprofit, Giving Football, which organizes soccer camps for children in orphanages around the world. He also donates a percentage of every commission to local educational and sports camp nonprofits in Southern California. As a Persian and Mexican American, Mohseni strives to embrace inclusiveness in all aspects of his business. “Diversity is a big thing for me,” he says. “We don’t always know what people are going through. As real estate agents, it’s not our job to know, but it’s also not our job to judge.”
