Super Power

As a child, Jing Fang lived in a 300-square-foot apartment with her family in Shanghai, China. “We didn’t even have our own bathroom,” she says. Fang, 29, immigrated to the U.S. in 2012 to pursue a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, she moved to California’s Bay Area. Buying a home, Fang caught the real estate bug. She took a gamble in 2016, leaving a solid engineering career, but she loved the business and helping people, especially first-generation immigrants like herself. Fang has an unusual “superpower.” She’s been confirmed as a “super recognizer” of faces though a Harvard University research study. “I can identify people’s faces after seeing them for only a few seconds. People are always amazed at how much I can remember from just meeting them once.”
