When Paleo Taranto transitioned her business from a working-class community to a more affluent market, colleagues and competitors said it would be an impossible move. But this former competitive swimmer, who captained both her school and club teams and attended Boston College on a swimming scholarship, wasn’t daunted. After six months of full-time prospecting, she began to see results. Success reinforced two important lessons: The harder you work, the luckier you get, and persistence pays. Her advice: Don’t try to reinvent the wheel; just put something extra into everything you do.
