New Kid in Town: When a sales associate can pick up her marbles and go to a new city—not once but twice—she’s someone to watch. When Kat Barry moved with her fiancé to Madison, Wis., she had never even visited the Wisconsin capital. Yet, that’s where she started her real estate career, closing $1 million in sales her first year and nearly $4 million her second.
On the road again: When Barry and her now-husband packed up again—this time for Pittsburgh—she knew the drill. Five months after getting her Pennsylvania license, Barry took over the marketing for two green-home communities. Today both projects are sold out. Last year she produced $7.3 million in sales with 21 sides.
Tooting her own horn: "People tell me I’m a great self-promoter," says Barry. "I’ve always tried to do as much free publicity as possible. I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for a year and a half and have been in four magazines and on the local news." She has also made five appearances as the local expert on HGTV’s "My House Is Worth What?"
