While earning her bachelor's degree in business at George Fox University in Oregon, Kimberly Dittler studied female entrepreneurs. That triggered her interest in real estate. She entered the business straight out of college and closed 26 transaction sides the following year. In 2009, she closed more than $10 million in sales with 41 sides. At the office, she fosters a collegial environment, leading a weekly marketing meeting to share best practices.
Three Steps Ahead
Dittler prides herself on her commitment to customer service—something she learned while working at Nordstrom during college. "Multiple clients have said, 'Kim, I know you have a lot of business but I feel like I'm your only client.' To hear them say that means the world to me." She tries to think three steps ahead at any point in the sales process and anticipate her clients' needs. They've rewarded her with testimonials; more than 40 raving fans sing her praises at her Web site.
Get Real With People
"I think nowadays we want instant gratification," she says, "but in real estate you need to keep at it, keep reaching into your sphere of influence to create authentic relationships with people." This summer, she'll reward her consistency by feeding her travel bug and exploring Paris with friends.
