A few summers before Mikaela Durham, 28, got into real estate, she volunteered at an orphanage in Tanzania. “This is the stuff that fills you up,” she says. “The day-to-day of real estate is enjoyable, but the things that give you meaning in life are what drives it all.” Durham finds purpose in giving back, including in her own community, where she has served as a mentor to children for seven years. Her passion for people is also evident in how she treats her clients—always tuned into the emotions associated with buying or selling a home. “I make it my priority to lead them through the process and relieve as much stress as possible,” says Durham, who stays in constant communication with her clients through the transaction. “I do my best to anticipate potential issues and stay prepared with solutions as we work through the hurdles.”
