Shortly after Sasha Cannon Farmer, ABR, CRS, entered the real estate business, she got some valuable advice from her broker: Don’t get stuck in preparation mode. “I have seen it,” she says, “sales associates who spend years ‘preparing’ to be a good agent [but never] feeling like they’re ready to go.” Farmer, 28, certainly prepared well—earning the GRI, e-PRO, ABR, and CRS designations within three years of obtaining her license in 2007. But she has also jumped in with both feet, winning awards for both her sales production and her service to the industry and the community. Farmer takes the business side of real estate seriously, working consistent hours, carefully tracking expenses and leads, and incorporating a varied mix of technologies. She saves 30 percent of her net income and donates another 5 percent each year to charity. “There is great peace of mind in running a stable, consistent business,” she says.
