In fifth grade, Shyla Magee got the real estate bug when her family embarked on the process of selling their home and buying a new one. She was mesmerized by both transactions. “I brought our bulky video camera to record the inside of each house we saw,” she recalls. The Lubbock, Texas, native eventually launched her career in Las Vegas, her husband’s hometown, where they moved after college. “I didn’t know anybody. It was a struggle,” says Magee, 29. She fittingly established herself as a relocation specialist. Before long, this outsider was entrenched in REALTOR® association matters. A graduate of the Nevada Association of REALTORS® Leadership Program, Magee, CRS, serves as chair of her local government affairs committee. She regularly chats with new residents and investors about how the area’s 20-year development plan will accommodate future growth.
