REALTOR® Wins MasterChef Competition

Although her signature dish is coconut curry lentil soup with spicy shrimp, it was a stuffed roasted quail with creamy potatoes and spinach entrée that helped REALTOR® Jennifer Behm take top honors this week in the Fox network’s MasterChef television series.
The show, which just concluded its second season, follows a group of contestants who prepare a wide array of gourmet meals that are then judged by a panel of experts that includes controversial Scottish chef and restaurateur Gordon Ramsay.
Behm, a real estate professional from Wilmington, Del., told REALTOR® Magazine that she’s been cooking for about 10 years now. She found out about the MasterChef competition through a friend and decided to give it a shot.
“The response to being on the show has been fantastic,” she said. “I’ve had clients that I sold houses to years ago call me up and congratulate me.”
Not surprisingly, the show was a “life-changing experience” for her, not only because of the newfound exposure it’s brought but also because of the new friendships she’s made.
“I stay in touch with most of the top 18 [contestants]. I talk with most of them every day or every other day. We’re a tight-knit group, because only we understand what we’ve all been through.”
For now, her immediate game plan is to develop a cookbook with her original recipes. Behm says she may relocate to Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York to further pursue her culinary endeavors, and possibly try to start her own cooking show.
But she adds that she’ll keep one foot in real estate for the foreseeable future.
“I’m going to keep my license,” Behm said.
