The Upside of Downsizing

June 26, 2012

By choosing a low-maintenance house that he could customize as he needs in the future, one Chicago-area home buyer found that he improved his work-life balance.

Automobile dealership co-owner Dale Benoy says that despite long hours, having a simple ranch villa 10 minutes from work gives him more time to enjoy his home.

Benoy told the Chicago Tribune that his open floor plan makes living easy, and the development offers many chances to socialize when he wants.

"As much as I can, I leave work at work," Benoy told the Tribune. "It's nice to not hear the phones ringing."

And because the open floor plan is on one level, Benoy says he won't need to move in the future.
