Does Your SEO Make Your Site Look Like Spam?

September 10, 2012

There are several search engine optimization strategies real estate agents should avoid to prevent their sites from being labeled as spam or even banned.

Sites that belong to link farms, or a cluster of sites linking to one another to increase in-bound links, experience declines in search engine rank because they are considered spam.  Agents should not stuff their sites with repeat keywords in order to try to improve their rank; and those that engage in cloaking, or using misleading meta tags in the Web page code that do not match what visitors see, risk their sites being banned.

Web sites also are penalized for duplication, so agents with multiple sites should create unique content for each of them or redirect them all to one page on the main site.
