Orlando REALTORS® Ride Planned Railway

September 14, 2012

More than 170 Central Florida real estate professionals, leasing agents, and others rode an Amtrak train this morning, "pretending" they were on the planned SunRail commuter train.

They boarded a regularly scheduled Amtrak carrier in DeLand and rode it all the way to Kissimmee on tracks that by 2014 are expected to carry the $1.2 billion SunRail trains.

Frankie Elliott, vice president of government affairs for the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association, notes that riders will stop only at four of the future SunRail depots. But they will see the sites of the rest of them as they whiz by. The association and other local organizations are sponsoring the trip.

Elliott hopes that the ride will help point out all of the possible ways property professionals can profit from development that could sprout along the four-county route. Already, more than $1 billion worth of projects are planned along SunRail, ranging from apartment communities to commercial and retail space.
