Survey: Recruiting Young Talent is Biggest Biz Obstacle

October 1, 2013

Real estate executives say their No. 1 business concern is attracting young, new talent to their ranks, according to Imprev Marketing Technologies’ 2013 Thought Leader Survey. As buyer demand climbs, the industry faces an aging workforce that is beginning to retire, the report notes.

Forty-two percent of the executives surveyed cited finding young talent as their biggest obstacle. What’s more, 33 percent cited “too few quality prospects” as a recruitment challenge that was making it difficult to grow their businesses.

The average age for a real estate professional is 57 years old, according to the National Association of REALTORS®. However, the average age of a first-time buyer is 31 years old, according to the report.
