Twitter Feeds Get Photo, Video Previews

October 31, 2013

Twitter is adding photo and video previews to users’ timelines, making the photos and videos visible in users' feeds without having to click a link. Tweets that include photos or six-second videos from Vine, Twitter’s video creation service, will automatically preview those images directly in users' feeds.

“Starting today, timelines on Twitter will be more visual and more engaging: previews of Twitter photos and videos from Vine will be front and center in tweets,” Michael Sippey, Twitter’s vice president for product, wrote in a recent blog post. “To see more of the photo or play the video, just tap.”

The move comes at a time when the social network is preparing to go public. Twitter is expected to raise up to $1.6 billion in an IPO slated for next week.

Real estate professionals are heavy users of Twitter. In a 2012 technology report from the Center for REALTOR® Technology, 28 percent of brokers said they use Twitter for real estate business purposes, and 26 percent of agents said they use the social network.
