Realtor.com® Expands Online Listings with NYC Agreement
December 4, 2013
In a recent amendment to its policies, realtor.com® is now allowed to publish listings from non-REALTOR® affiliated sources, and it has started that by cracking open the New York market with an agreement with The Corcoran Group.
The Corcoran Group, a brokerage that operates 40 offices with 2,200 sales associates, is the first large New York brokerage to provide real estate listing content to realtor.com. Realtor.com® is reportedly in discussions to license data from other New York brokerages and the Real Estate Board of New York.
On July 24, the National Association of REALTORS®' board of directors recommended amendments to realtor.com® agreements that would allow the listing site to expand its listing content online by including direct content from brokerages. Previously, realtor.com® was barred from receiving listing data from non-REALTOR®-affiliated MLSs.
"This agreement delivers on the promise of the historic decision made by the National Association of REALTORS® this summer to empower realtor.com® as the most timely, accurate, and comprehensive source of real estate information anywhere," Errol Samuelson, president of realtor.com®, said in a statement.
The amendment to realtor.com®’s operating agreement also now allows it to display new-home plans and communities as well as rentals.
