Forbes Ranks Cities That Offer Best Family Life

Which cities offer some of the best settings for raising a family? To find out, Forbes evaluated America’s 100 largest metro areas, factoring in median household income, cost of living, housing affordability, average commuting delays, crime rates, school quality, and the percentage of residents who own the home.

Here are the eight metros that topped its list for raising a family:

  1. Raleigh, N.C.
  2. Grand Rapids, Mich.
  3. Ogden, Utah
  4. Omaha, Neb.
  5. Youngstown, Ohio
  6. Des Moines, Iowa
  7. Boise, Idaho
  8. Scranton-Wilkes Barre, Pa.
