The electric bill tends to be the priciest utility bill for home owners. It can comprise 9 percent of the total expense of utilities for home owners. But that cost can drastically differ depending on where you live.

The state that has the most expensive electric bills is Hawaii with $190.36 per month on average.
At the other end of the spectrum, New Mexico home owners have the most savings. The state has the least expensive electric bills at $76.56 per month on average.
