Celebritize Your Brand: Here’s How

October 3, 2016

Make yourself more of a celebrity in your local market to take your business to the next level. Marsha Friedman, a public relations expert and author of “Celebritize Yourself”, offers up tips on how to take your notoriety up a notch, including:

Have a strong media presence.

This includes in both the social media and traditional media realms. Use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media sites to share your brand messages. But don’t underestimate the power of traditional media to get your name out. “Make yourself available for interviews with newspapers, magazines, TV stations, and talk radio,” Friedman says. “Media appearances act as third-party endorsements, casting you as an authority in your field. This type of PR and marketing also needs constant cultivation. If you were quoted in a newspaper article last year, you’re literally last year’s news.”

Show passion.

“If you convey the passion you feel for what you do, that goes a long way to stimulate interest in both your personal brand and corporate brand at the same time,” Friedman told Forbes.com “Ask yourself: What is it I’m most passionate about and how does that relate to my brand?” Use that as the basis of forming your brand identity.

Get real with your website.

Your website likely will be your first impression. It is one of the “best places to control your brand’s image,” Friedman told Forbes.com. “When people want to know more about a person, a business, an author, or a professional, one of the first things they do now is check their website. What they find influences how they perceive your company in every way.”
