5 Real Estate Brands Named Top Franchises

Five real estate franchise companies made Entrepreneur magazine's 38th annual Franchise 500 list this year, based on size, growth, financial strength, and stability. RE/MAX LLC led the pack at number 10 on the list, up from 21st in 2016 and 75th in 2015.
This is the fifth consecutive year that RE/MAX topped the real estate franchisors in ranking, and it’s the 14th time in 18 years that RE/MAX has made the list. “Many of our franchisees gravitated to the RE/MAX model because our focus has always been on the needs of the agent,” said Chris Pflueger, RE/MAX’s vice president of business development, in a statement. RE/MAX has more than 97,000 real estate agents in over 95 countries, adding 231 franchise locations in 2016 alone, according to the ranking report. “We provide our broker-owners with the leading-edge tools, on-demand education, global brand recognition and more than 40 years of industry-leading experience to attract and recruit the top performing real estate agents in their markets,” Pflueger said.
HomeVestors of America came in at number 52 and Keller Williams Realty at 77. Weichert Real Estate Affiliates Inc. moved up 32 spots to number 105 this year, the 13th consecutive year the brand has been named to the list. Realty One Group came in at number 168.
Bill Scavone, president and chief operating officer of Weichert Real Estate Affiliates, said the brand rose 131 spots in rankings over the last two years, calling it “a testament to the hard work and dedication put forth daily by our national network of real estate professionals that believe tremendously in the Weichert brand and operating systems.”
Each company that applies for the list is scored based on more than 150 data points. Entrepreneur magazine has tweaked its formula over the years, adding new, relevant factors such as social media presence. A total of 988 franchises submitted their information this year.
