The Biggest Boomtowns of 2017
December 14, 2017
Florida dominated a list of the real estate markets that grew the most this year, with eight of the list's top 10 cities located in the state, according to rankings by SmartAsset, a personal finance website. To find the 2017 boomtowns, SmartAsset analyzed data from 572 of the largest cities in the U.S. based on five factors: population change, housing growth rate, unemployment, annual change in the unemployment rate, and GDP growth rate. None of the cities that were named top boomtowns in 2016 made it on this year’s list. “This is not necessarily a bad sign for those cities; it just shows how difficult it can be to maintain long-term growth,” SmartAsset notes.
