How Your Clients Are Celebrating Their ‘Housiversary’
June 27, 2018
The hashtag “#Housiversary” has been trending on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, as homeowners find new ways to mark their homeownership milestones, realtor.com® reports. From hosting celebratory events to sharing photos on social media feeds, here are a few ways your clients are celebrating their “housiversary.”
Show off the keys. Some homeowners are snapping photos holding up their house keys to signify the special day, using the #Housiversary hashtag.
Display before and after photos. Others are showing off the home improvement work they’ve done since moving in. Some homeowners may show a yearly photo of their latest renovation project. “One day, I hope to print out the [renovation] pictures and hang the photos on our staircase wall, complete with the year below each one,” homeowner Richard Blakeley told realtor.com®.
Commission a house portrait. Some are having a professional picture sketched of their home. “It now sits in my office, where it makes me smile every time I look at it,” homeowner Scott M. Browder of Charlotte, N.C., told realtor.com®.
Throw a party. Housewarming parties are common after move-in day, but some homeowners are using their “Housiversary” to throw a yearly get-together to celebrate. They’re inviting friends and neighbors over for a potluck.
Plan the next project. Some homeowners are using the time to reflect on what they want to do next with their home. “We like to look back on the past year to see how far we have come,” Heidi McBain, a homeowner in Flower Mound, Texas, told realtor.com®. “Then, we come up with goals for the house and yard for the upcoming year.”
