Meet Real Estate’s 2019 Newsmakers

December 4, 2018

More than 230 professionals who work in real estate were named as “newsmakers” for being influencers, crusaders, and trailblazers in the industry. RISMedia, a real estate news and information service, announced its “Class of 2019 Real Estate Newsmakers,” singling out those in the industry who have made headlines over the past year due to their newsworthy contributions in the field. The National Association of REALTORS® was well-represented on the list, with accolades going to: Dave Garland, managing director of Second Century Ventures, NAR’s investment arm; General Counsel Katie Johnson; First Vice President Charlie Oppler; Ginny Shipe, CEO of the Real Estate Business Institute and an NAR board member; President John Smaby; and Chief Economist Lawrence Yun.

Professionals selected for this year’s list have made a difference in the real estate and homeownership sectors and have “made a profound impact on the real estate industry, from nationwide to their own local communities,” says John Featherston, CEO and publisher of RISMedia. Those chosen for the list “are breaking the mold and the ones who are leading the industry forward.”

RISMedia readers and editors nominated professionals for the list. They were divided into the categories of influencers, trailblazers, futurists, achievers, crusaders, inspirations, luminaries, and trendsetters.
