The 10 Most Innovative Real Estate Firms

February 25, 2019

Keller Williams topped Fast Company’s list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies in the real estate and urban development category for 2019.

The list provides a snapshot of future innovation across 35 industries and the company standouts to watch. Fast Company bases its rankings on nominations through an application process as well as editors’ and writers’ picks. Each year, it ranks businesses that have had the “most profound” impact on their industry and culture. “Established players are showing the same kind of nimbleness that we’ve generally associated with startups,” David Lidsky, Fast Company deputy editor, says about this year’s list.

Keller Williams earmarked $1 billion in August 2017 to fund technology enhancements to better serve its agents and customers. Soon after, it launched KW Labs, which builds technology to help agents improve customer service. For example, Kelle, an AI-powered virtual assistant, provides an agent-to-agent referral network, among other features. Keller Williams also has partnered with Nextdoor to leverage data insights to better connect with homeowners and potential buyers and sellers.

“We are developing our technology in close partnership with our associates—from ideation to design and iterating together through release,” says Gary Keller, cofounder and CEO of Keller Williams. “It is this collaboration that drives our greatest opportunities for innovation. As technology continues to reshape our industry, I have never been more excited for the future of our company. This is just the beginning.”
