June 5, 2019
A Vancouver city planner has gone viral with a seemingly random question he posed on his Twitter account Sunday. The question Brent Toderian posed:
QUESTION: If you had the power to ban just one thing from cities in order to make them MUCH better, OTHER THAN CARS (too easy), what would that one thing be?
— Brent Toderian (@BrentToderian) June 2, 2019
The replies instantly started to flood in, so Toderian created a Twitter poll. As of Tuesday afternoon, he had more than 9,300 votes.
AFTER 3400+ RESPONSES in less than a day (wow), a POLL on 4 popular answers: If you had the power to BAN JUST ONE THING from cities in order to make them MUCH better, which of these 4 would you chose?
— Brent Toderian (@BrentToderian) June 3, 2019
He had 3,400-plus responses in less than a day. Thirty-one percent of respondents answered “cars” (despite Toderian saying “other than cars”); 29% said “guns”; 25% answered “single-use plastic”; and 15% answered “smoking.” Other popular answers included golf courses, litter, and “people.”
