July 15, 2019
A man in Central Texas was arrested on suspicion of attempting to purchase a home using a forged cashier’s check in the amount of $262,523. Mike Dajour Hearne, 29, of Bremond, Texas, faces a forgery charge.
Hearne allegedly gave the forged check to a local real estate professional to purchase the home. The real estate pro had suspicions the check was a fake and took it to an official at First National Bank to review. A bank official confirmed the check was forged.
According to a police affidavit, the man later “admitted the check was forged.” Hearne is currently being held in police custody on a $50,000 bond.
