The ‘Horrifying’ Reason This Listing Went Viral

A Michigan real estate professional is already getting in the spirit of Halloween with a listing that features the “Ghostface” character from the “Scream” film franchise—and the gimmick has scared up major buyer attention.

Listing agent James Pyle dresses as the "Ghostface" character from "Scream" in property photos.

In the photos for the $105,000 home in Lansing, the horror villain—who appears dressed in the character's familiar long black robe and “screaming” mask—appears in doorways and around corners in the basement and other areas of the property. Ghostface also is photographed raking leaves in the backyard, carving a pumpkin in the kitchen, and peeking out from behind a curtain in one room.

The Ghostface character in the photos was played by the listing agent, James Pyle of Century 21 Real Estate. Since Friday, when the listing went live, it has generated more than 20,000 views, the Lansing State Journal reports. Pyle says the listing has also generated several private showings from interested buyers. “My goal was 1,000 views,” Pyle told the Journal. “I just wanted people to take a look at the listing and smile, laugh, and have fun with it. The reaction has been a lot of fun.”

Agents dressing up in costumes to market properties has proven to be a popular trend in recent years. Several real estate professionals have staged similar photo stunts for their listings, dressing as everything from unicorns to a T. rex.
