Next Big Proptech Hunt Expands Into Canada

February 25, 2020

Second Century Ventures, a strategic investment arm of the National Association of REALTORS®, is continuing to expand its real estate tech-focused accelerator program globally. On Monday, Second Century announced plans to expand to Canada. In December 2019, it announced its first REACH accelerator class in Australia.

Second Century’s REACH accelerator program aims to recruit and accelerate new technology in the real estate industry.

“With over 130,000 REALTORS® in Canada and a number of shared interests within the Canadian and U.S. real estate markets, it was only natural for NAR’s REACH accelerator program to expand into Canada,” says Bob Goldberg, NAR CEO and president of Second Century Ventures. “We are excited to be able to add to the list of impressive companies that have graduated from the program, and we’re eager to discover the mark they will leave on real estate throughout North America.”

Canadian proptech companies will now have the ability tap into the real estate industry network in launching new tools to the industry. The REACH Canada team will open applications into its REACH accelerator program in late May. The REACH Canada program will be led by Lynette Keyowski, a veteran real estate executive.

“We are thrilled to continue expansion of the REACH program,” says Dave Garland, managing partner at Second Century Ventures. “On the heels of growth in the commercial marketplace with REACH Commercial, and with the debut of REACH Australia, our continued expansion to Canada furthers our mission to increase the depth of our global network of industry professionals, strategic partners, investors, mentors, and innovators responsible for delivering rapid and transformative change in all sectors of real estate.”
