‘That’s Who We R,’ Other NAR Initiatives Earn Top Awards

May 19, 2020

The National Association of REALTORS® earned prestigious business awards Monday for several of its initiatives, including the wide-reaching “That’s Who We R” consumer ad campaign. The American Business Awards, the nation’s premier business awards program, virtually presented NAR with eight STEVIE® Awards for a handful of the association’s marketing and communications programs and events. The NAR initiatives were selected among more than 3,600 nominations for the annual ABA honors and went through a rigorous review process conducted by more than 250 professionals worldwide.

The “That’s Who We R” campaign, NAR’s 2019 Leadership Summit, and its consumer-facing website HouseLogic.com took top honors, while a handful of other association programs received specific recognition. “Through its marketing, communications, and events team, NAR continues to drive tremendous value for its 1.4 million members and for the nation’s real estate industry,” NAR President Vince Malta said in a statement. “We’re proud to receive external recognition for our work to promote our members’ philanthropic efforts, enhance their leadership capabilities, and solidify America’s REALTORS® as local real estate experts and community leaders. As our nation and this association navigate the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’re strengthening that commitment to discovering new and innovative approaches that make our members the most successful, profitable and impactful professionals they can be.”

  • Leadership Summit was the recipient of the Conferences and Meetings Gold STEVIE® for association meetings. The annual event draws roughly 1,700 local and state REALTOR® association leaders to Chicago to set the goals and tone of the year ahead for these organizations. In particular, ABA recognized last year’s Leadership Summit for its efforts to drive audience attention, engagement, and relevant takeaways.
  • “That’s Who We R” also received a Gold STEVIE® for marketing campaign of the year. Designed to highlight the distinction between real estate agents and REALTORS®—who are members of NAR and abide by the association’s strict Code of Ethics—the campaign proved remarkably effective. Data from a third-party market research firm shows a double-digit year-over-year increase among those who say they’d choose a REALTOR® over a real estate agent and those who say they believe a REALTOR® is “an expert when it comes to home buying and selling.”
  • NAR’s Good Neighbor Awards program also earned STEVIE® Award recognition for the marketing campaign around its 20th anniversary celebration. Since 2000, NAR has celebrated REALTORS® who give back by awarding grant money and generating national media exposure for members who have invested significant time and effort in community causes.

“Despite the toughest business conditions in memory, American organizations continue to demonstrate their commitment to innovation, creativity, and bottom-line results,” said STEVIE® Awards President Maggie Gallagher. “This year’s winning nominations are full of inspiring stories of persistence, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and compassion. We celebrate all of their stories and look forward to showcasing them during our virtual awards ceremony on Aug. 5.”
