Is There a Doctor in the House? At Some Luxury Condos, Yes
October 27, 2020
Luxury developers are always looking for that special amenity to offer to attract residents and tenants. In the era of a pandemic, a growing number of condo developers believe they may have found the right hook: wellness via exclusive access to doctors for its residents.
Wellness amenities have become a growing focus area for luxury developers since the coronavirus outbreak began.
Residents of the Ritz-Carlton Residences on Miami Beach will receive an exclusive, one-year membership to the private medical practice of Dr. Arthur Agatston, a celebrity cardiologist, nutritionist, and author of The South Beach Diet. Residents will receive access to Agatston’s top physicians. The building says the membership is worth about $12,000. The arrangement includes house calls when necessary; unlimited 24-hour access to physicians via phone; same day in-office visits; development of a wellness plan; coordination and scheduling of all specialty physician appointments and procedures; and more. The 126-unit condo building offers units starting at $2 million and going up to more than $40 million.
Developer CC Homes, a Florida home builder, is offering residents of two of its developments an exclusive partnership with Baptist Health South Florida. Buyers of its homes will get access to Baptist Health’s Care on Demand virtual health care services. The developments that can take part in this partnership include single-family homes and townhomes priced at $230,000 and up.
“We strive to create exceptional places to live that offer conveniences and uncommon luxuries,” Andres Miyares, chief operating officer at CC Homes, told The New York Post. “So we are offering our home buyers premium access to this cutting-edge medical technology.”
Residences aren’t the only ones adding exclusive access to doctors. In July, Crocker Partners, a commercial real estate company in Boca Raton, Fla., added a director of environmental health to help the brokerage navigate the pandemic. Dr. Walter Okoroanyanwu, a medical professional with experience in health care and infectious diseases, is charged with helping the firm develop a program to keep its employees healthy during the pandemic.
