Best Places to Work Remotely During the Pandemic

November 12, 2020

As remote work continues to grow, some Americans are packing up to move to the country or suburbs, but they’re looking for a strong Wi-Fi signal before they call it home. It's become a must-have for anywhere remote workers decide to relocate.

To pinpoint the best places to telecommute,® analyzed 100 of the largest metro areas for high-speed internet (at least 250 Mbps), affordable home prices, and low cost of living. For geographic diversity, only one metro per state was included.® identified the following as the top places to work remotely during the pandemic:

  1. Syracuse, N.Y.: $199,950 (median list price)
  2. Akron, Ohio: $179,950
  3. Scranton, Pa.: $194,550
  4. New Haven, Conn.: $285,050
  5. El Paso, Texas: $226,000
  6. New Orleans: $329,050
