The association’s virtual Real Estate Forecast Summit, to be held Dec. 10, will feature leading economists’ market predictions for the next year.

December 2, 2020

Where does the real estate market go from here? Leading economists and industry insiders will share their housing forecasts, post-election insights, and demographic observations at the National Association of REALTORS®’ upcoming Real Estate Forecast Summit. Registration for the event is free, and you'll want to attend to learn more about the state of the market and position your business for the year ahead. Seven sessions will be offered during the summit, which will be broadcast live via Zoom from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern time on Dec. 10.

The sessions will center around discussions about the economic challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in 2021, including record low mortgage rates and the possibility of tax hikes under a new presidential administration.

  • One session will focus on policies at the federal and state levels that may help commercial real estate recover from the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A panel on residential real estate will cover recent surges in home prices, as well as the severe inventory shortage that’s making it more difficult for first-time buyers to purchase a home.
  • Another session will highlight demographic influences in real estate, such as the buying and selling patterns of younger and older generations, as well as how racial and cultural differences could impact future demand for housing.

Invited speakers and panelists include:

  • Jim Parrott, housing adviser to President Barack Obama
  • NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun
  • David Berson, chief economist at Nationwide Mutual
  • Dana Peterson, chief economist at The Conference Board
  • Nela Richardson, chief economist at ADP
