Meg White is the former managing editor of REALTOR® Magazine.
Scaling the Colorado Rockies, rocking along with a rapping Atlanta REALTOR®, and touring the fine art world of Savannah, Ga., were among the highlights of judging the Street Cred video contest, in which we challenged readers to demonstrate their neighborhood expertise. Ultimately, the REALTOR® Magazine staff was won over by a “Cheers” moment.
Lisa Molinari—sales associate and manager apprentice at Weichert, REALTORS®, in Morristown, N.J.—made us feel like we were in a place “where everybody knows your name.” In her winning submission, we see her behind the local cobbler’s counter joking with customers, at the market bagging groceries, and eating ice cream from the local parlor. Molinari shares interesting facts and history that set Morristown apart. And her enthusiasm is contagious; the folks of Morristown clamor to help her tell the town’s story and speak her praises as a local expert.
“What an awesome project! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this adventure,” Molinari told us when she submitted her video to the contest. “This was a great way to reconnect with people throughout town and meet some new friends as well. I love where I live and work.”
As the winner, Molinari will travel to Chicago to serve as the guest editor for our March/April issue. Three honorable mentions win one-year subscriptions from our contest partner, Doorsteps.com. Their videos are also mighty impressive:
You can’t help but smile watching Lee Taylor rap about his street cred over a vintage Atlanta rock-and-roll tune by a local pop and blues legend known as Piano Red. The Keller Williams Realty Metro Atlanta sales associate deftly skewers wannabes in the industry while highlighting what makes his area—and service—shine.
Brian Dixon, sales associate with Keller Williams Advantage in Golden, Col., reinterprets our challenge as “trail cred,” taking us on a biking, skiing, hiking, and gliding tour. In addition to helping adventure seekers find the right home, Dixon offers advice on where to “ride, run, hike, or fly” in his beautiful mountain town on the Front Range of the Rockies.
Finally, we loved watching how Lori Judge, founder and broker of Judge Realty, harnesses her passion for art to showcase the creative community of Savannah, Ga. Not only has she turned her brokerage into a permanent gallery, she also connects artists with property owners and local businesses to help community projects flourish.
