What Dogs Do, She Scoops

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--Celia Luescher, sales associate, Prudential Florida Realty, was awarded a patent for her invention of Pretty Poop, an animal waste receptacle. "I was devastated when I moved to the United States after living in Sweden for years. There was dog litter everywhere--in all the parks and in front of people's homes. In Sweden there's a huge fine for not collecting your dog's droppings."
Luescher crafted a prototype of Pretty Poop out of a tissue box and tape and presented the miniature prototype to her patent lawyer. Two years later the Pretty Poop receptacle was patented.
"I'm currently working on a pilot project with a local park. Pretty Poop will be available for dog walkers to test it out. If it works with the park, it should work anywhere."
Luescher says her real estate business has benefited from the invention. "It's a great icebreaker--my clients get a real kick out of it."
