Only Top Guns Need Apply

You’re the top! If that’s a sentiment you’ve heard a lot over the years--and not just because you’re a Cole Porter fan--this column is for you.
That’s because REALTOR® Magazine is expanding the concept of our “Top 100 Companies” feature (first published in July 2000) to apply to sales associates, as well. In our September 2001 issue, we’ll crown the “Top 100 Salespeople,” those who reached the apex in residential sales in the United States for the year 2000.
What better place to carry a list of the industry’s top-producing salespeople than in the industry’s largest circulation magazine and one whose readership is primarily salespeople? Of our 780,000 readers, roughly 80 percent of you are out there in the trenches making deals happen. So whether or not you find yourself on the list, wouldn’t you like to know what these dealmakers are doing to stay at the top of their profession in productivity? Our presentation will offer that kind of insight.
We’ll determine our “Top 100 salespeople” through a formula that takes into account both transaction sides and sales volume. So you won’t see a list quite like ours anywhere else.
We’ve explored all kinds of methods for ferreting out the industry’s crème de la crème--but the most practical and fair approach is to give all of you who think you might make the list the opportunity to apply. In fact, we need your help to make the list as accurate as possible. If you don’t apply, chances are you won’t make the Top 100, no matter how good your numbers.
Fortunately, putting your name in the ring is easy to do. At www.magazine.realtor, click on Online Contents. Then scroll to “Are you among the top 100 salespeople?” Click to a form asking for basic information about you and your production for 2000. (It should take you about two minutes to fill out and submit.) If you’d rather get the form by fax, call NAR Information Central, 800/874-6500, and ask for REALTOR® Magazine’s Top 100 Salespeople form. All the candidates who make our list must have their numbers verified by their broker and, if applicable, their franchise. So please take care to report accurate information.
The deadline for entry is March 1, so apply today! Wouldn’t it be delightful and de-lovely to have your peers see your name in print as one of the highest-producing salespeople in the country today?
