NAR Partner Fills Health Coverage Gap

The latest news and benefits for members of the National Association of REALTORS®.

July 1, 2009

More than a quarter of REALTORS® have no health insurance, and many more are significantly uninsured, according to a survey by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. NAR is helping to fill this void by making affordable, limited medical indemnity insurance available through a new REALTOR Benefits® program partner, REALTORS® Core Health Insurance (RCHI).

"While NAR continues to advocate for comprehensive health care reform legislation for small businesses and the self-employed, we’re pleased to be able to help REALTORS® who can benefit from affordable limited medical indemnity insurance right now," says NAR President Charles McMillan.

The program has three plans designed to meet the needs of real estate practitioners who either don’t qualify for major medical insurance due to preexisting conditions or can’t afford the high cost of coverage. NAR members under age 65 are eligible, and acceptance is guaranteed. The program offers a prescription discount card and includes benefits such as doctor’s office visits, hospitalization, surgery, and emergency room care.

Members can choose any doctor or hospital, next-day coverage is available, and plan options are offered throughout most of the country. For more information, visit www.REALTORSCoreHealthInsurance.com or call 877-CORE-PLAN (877-267-3752).
