New .REALTOR Domain Coming Soon
Learn about the procedure to apply for a new .REALTOR top-level domain.
November 2, 2013
You’ve seen .com, .org, .edu, and .gov, but did you know there are hundreds more top-level domains coming? Soon, new domains like .car, .music, .lawyer, and .doctor will be appearing online. To stay ahead of the rapidly changing Internet and differentiate REALTORS® from nonmembers, NAR is securing the .REALTOR domain for members—to create a clear, trusted source for real estate online.
In early 2011, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which oversees policies dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable, and interoperable, approved an expansion of the number of top-level domains. This approval also allows companies and organizations, such as NAR, to create domains for their brands.
In 2014, NAR members will be able to apply for a new .REALTOR top-level domain. This domain will not only help brand members’ Web sites but also make it easier to show that you adhere to a code of ethics and professionalism and are a trusted source of real estate information, giving REALTORS® a competitive advantage.
URLs using the new .REALTOR extension will be available for registration only to REALTOR® members (agents and brokers); local and state REALTOR® associations; association multiple listing services; affiliated institutes, societies, and councils; and other NAR-approved licensees.
Members will be able to secure a .REALTOR domain using their name on a first-come, first-served basis. NAR will provide the first 500,000 members who register a .REALTOR domain with a free license for the first year on the first domain they register. Pricing for additional domains is still being determined.
