11 Forms of Empathy

When you have to stick to a difficult negotiating position, try showing empathy with the other party by using key words and phrases such as:

  1. I understand
  2. I know what you mean
  3. I’ve been there
  4. I know what you’re saying
  5. I sympathize with that
  6. I know the problem well
  7. You’re right
  8. I agree
  9. I see your point
  10. That’s only right and reasonable
  11. I’m with you 100 percent
